What is the subconscious mind?

The organ of the subconscious mind is the solar plexus. The ancient Greeks referred to this organ as the heart of hearts. The dictionary definition of solar plexus is “a complex of ganglia and radiating nerves of the sympathetic system at the pit of the stomach”. Whenever someone says “listen to your gut feeling”, this is the place you experience that feeling.

The subconscious is responsible for vital functions in your body, such as keeping your heart beating, making your lungs breathe oxygen, and causing your hair, and your fingernails to grow. Most people think it’s their brain that’s responsible for doing these things, but it’s actually the solar plexus.

The brain simply acts as a switching station that sends signals to the other organs in your body through a complex system of nerves. The brain will send a signal to the solar plexus, and the solar plexus will carry out the orders it is given.

This is really important to understand! Not only does the solar plexus (home of the subconscious mind) do whatever the brain (home of your conscious mind) tells it to do, it MUST do whatever it is told by the conscious mind because the subconscious mind does not have the ability to reason, or reject information.

The subconscious is totally subjective, it can only receive and accept sense impressions given to it, it can not give orders or reject orders.

Another way of understanding this is to think of your conscious mind as the captain of a ship, the ship being your body, and the subconscious mind as being the crew that runs the ship. The conscious mind (the captain) gives the orders, and the subconscious mind (the crew) must carry out the orders given to it.

Is my subconscious mind controlling my life?

The short answer is yes. For most people, their subconscious mind is running the entire show, and there is no captain giving orders to the crew. You see, the subconscious is what causes you to act the way you do. There’s a collection of habits and beliefs stored in the subconscious mind that form what is called a PARADIGM.

The paradigm creates all the results you are getting in your life. It will automatically control everything you do, based on the habits and beliefs that are fixed in the subconscious mind, unless you decide to do something about it.

We are ALL a product of our paradigm. We are creatures of habit. Our life IS being run by our paradigm whether we are consciously impressing what we want upon our subconscious mind, or if we are neglecting it completely. Most people are neglecting it completely. But, you can take back control of your life, and your results, if you do as I suggest in the rest of this article.

How do I take back control of my life?

To take back control of our lives, we must make positive impressions on the subconscious mind. We must re-program the paradigm, to change the results we are getting, so we can live the life we want.

To change something, it’s incredibly useful to understand how it was formed. In the case of our paradigm, it was formed as the result of other people’s beliefs and habits.

From the moment we are born until around the age of six or seven, our subconscious mind is wide open to suggestion. This is why you might have heard people say “children are like little sponges”, because they absorb everything from their environment.

When we are young children, we have not yet developed our conscious mental faculties, and we don’t reason with information that comes our way, we just accept it as the truth, since that is all we are able to do at such an early stage of development.

Our entire model for how we view the world, and how we view ourselves is created in those early years, and that is how and when our paradigm is formed.

All of those ideas that were impressed upon us at a young age became fixed in the subconscious mind. They formed our paradigm. And that paradigm has been directly influencing our decisions, and shaping our reality ever since. The craziest part is, it’s all been happening without our awareness of it.

The first step in taking back control of your life is to become AWARE of the CAUSE of the results you’re getting. Most people think their results are caused by luck, chance, circumstance, or other people. While those things can play a small role from time to time, they are not the major contributing factor. The real cause is your PARADIGM.

So to change the results in your life, and take back control, you must change the paradigm.

The first step is becoming aware of this fact, and now you are aware.

The next step is learning how to change it.

How are paradigms changed?

A paradigm is changed the same way it was formed. Through the repetition of information being impressed upon the subconscious mind.

Which then begs the question, how in the world do I impress ideas upon the subconscious mind?

The answer? Repetition of an idea until one becomes emotionally involved with that idea.

Repeatedly thinking of something causes it to gain power through your concentration on it. Giving power to thought by concentration causes the thought’s vibration to speed up. Once a thought reaches a high enough frequency, or speed, of vibration, it is then recognized by the body as a feeling, which we call emotion. At that point, we have emotionally charged your idea.

You can supercharge this process by utilizing the power of gratitude. By thinking of your idea in a state of total gratitude, you move yourself into an emotional state of expectancy. Showing gratitude for an idea that has yet to be realized is extremely powerful, because your subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between what is real and what is imagined.

So, if you imagine yourself being totally grateful for having received the thing you’ve asked for, your subconscious mind immediately begins looking for ways to prove that your idea is real. And if it can’t find evidence it’s real in your environment, it will then use YOU as a vehicle to manifest your idea into reality by moving your body into action, which causes the eventual manifestation of the result you desire.
